Poochera
Tiny township on the Eyre Highway
Poochera is located on the Eyre Highway 329 km from Port Augusta and 641 km from Adelaide. It is a tiny settlement which grew up to service the needs of the surrounding wheat and sheep farmers. The town itself probably has a population of no more than about 60 people. Poochera probably takes its name from the word used by the local Aborigines to describe a nearby hill. It was gazetted in 1920.
