Attractive rural township in the hinterland behind Port Macquarie
Comboyne is an attractive rural township located 437 km north of Sydney. It is a pleasant, sleepy destination surrounded by particularly beautiful bushwalking country.

Things to see:  

Ellenborough Falls
Ellenborough Falls is located on the Bulga Plateau. Proceed west of Wauchope along the Oxley Highway for 11 km then turn left onto the signposted sealed road for Comboyne (another 20 km). From Comboyne, follow the Wingham Rd for 7 km (the first 5 km are sealed) then turn right into Boorganna Rd (signposted for Elands, which is 16 km away). The tarmac soon runs out. After 4 km there is an intersection at which you must keep to the right. Boorganna Rd soon becomes Colling Pass Rd which will take you to Elands. From Elands, head north along Glenwarrin Rd for 3 km and you will come to a turnoff on the right to the falls which drop160 m, making them one of the longest single-drop falls in the Southern Hemisphere.

The cliffs and ranges beyond Comboyne

There are barbecue facilities and toilets, a lookout near the top of the falls and a good footpath which leads a few hundred metres to a full view of the drop. If you continue along the less well defined track it leads to an even better vantage point.

Boorganna Nature Reserve
From Comboyne, follow the Wingham Rd for 3 km then turn right into Innes View Rd (sealed). After another 3 km there is a signpost which indicates the start of a 1-km walking track that leads through remnant rainforest to a lookout at Rawson Falls.
