Blood on the Wattle: Massacres
and Maltreatment of Aborigines from 1788
Written by Bruce Elder, who coincidentally is
also responsible for this web site, this is a detailed history of most
of the massacres and maltreatment of Aborigines which has occurred on
over the past 200 years. It opens with the attacks on Aborigines by the
earliest Europeans who arrived in Sydney in 1788 and continues to look
at the massacres which occurred on the frontiers. The story is deeply
disturbing and many readers have found the accumulation of information
deeply disturbing. This new edition includes information on the 'Stolen
Generation' and provides new information on massacres on the South
Coast of NSW and in the hinterland behind Queensland's Sunshine Coast.
Evonne Cawley has stated that the book 'changed her life'. In 1999 a
survey of over 4,000 readers of the Sydney Morning Herald and The Age
voted 'Blood on the Wattle' one of Australia's ten most influential
works of non-fiction this century.

The bookshop is closing down and we now
have limited stock and are only sending books out upon receipt of a
cheque. The sensible thing to do is email belder@bigpond.com with a
request for the book. We will notify you if we have any copies in
stock. If we do then we can arrange for the book to be posted upon
receipt of a cheque. Cumbersome, yes. But all books are being
discounted.
