Snakes of Australia
Written by Peter Mirtschin and Richard
Davis this 216 page book (delightfully subtitled 'Dangerous and
Harmless') is designed to let the reptile-phobe know exactly what they
are scared of - and why. It is really for people, particularly
bushwalkers, who want to identify the snakes that cross their paths.
Each snake is depicted (in a very clear colour picture), its habitat is
shown on a map of Australia, its status (harmless to highly venomous)
is stated, its biological name (including the year and name of the
person who named it) is provided. There is then a detailed description
and a description of its habitat. This is a good, comprehensive guide
which can be carried effortlessly in a backpack.
